Our failed experiment the other day educated us, and now we've found enlightenment.
One of our newly-configured database servers is totally kicking ass now (and it used to suck, unable to do hardly anything), and it's time to copy its setup to some of the others, so they kick ass in the same way.
However, doing this requires two databases servers offline (out of 5 in the global cluster) while we copy stuff over, and that might be pushing it for this early in the night.
But... I'm tired, so I want to start now. This shouldn't take long... just need to copy 21 GB from one machine to another, over gigabit ethernet.
So, you'll know what's up if the site's a little slow over the next 15-25 minutes.
