We've been doing quite a bit of server work--more than can be listed here and make any sense.

The upshot for you, the user, is that site performance is pretty much the same as it has been for the last few weeks. alanj does an amazing job trying to make things go as smoothly as possible, but the fact is that we have more traffic than capacity at the most high-traffic times of the day.

The new servers that we keep referring to DID arrive, but we apparently hit on one strange combination of hardware that causes severe problems with Linux 2.4. Those servers are on their way back to California to get some hardware switched out, and will hopefully be back to us next week.

One of our new servers does work, however, and there may be some very short downtime later tonight to get it operational. I'll update here again when details about that are available.

I know I always say it, but we greatly appreciate your patience.
